Jon Coleman’s 2003 Mustang is not your typical 7-second drag car. Yes, it’s loaded with the serious equipment you’d expect from a car capable of consistent 7-second passes—but it also packs air conditioning, power steering, overdrive, and even a hi-def stereo system. This is a true street/strip monster with no compromises.
Check out the video below for this incredible build in action.
Built at DBR High Performance
Coleman, shop foreman at DBR High Performance in Spring Hill, Tennessee, built this beast from the ground up. DBR is a full-service performance facility with in-house dyno tuning and a specialty in turn-key 1000+ horsepower solutions. Many of their cars are powered by MS3Pro and MegaSquirt engine management systems.
During Hot Rod Magazine’s Drag Week, DBR brought five cars to compete. Four of them finished in the Top 10 of the ultra-competitive Super Street Small Block Power Adder class. Jon’s Mustang stood out as a serious contender, finishing 2nd place overall.

Record-Setting Performance at Drag Week
Jon turned in three 7-second passes, including a personal best of 7.64 seconds at 183 mph, all with a brand-new combo.
Even more impressive, his Friday pass was the fastest in class by three-tenths of a second. However, Drag Week is a true test of endurance—five days, four unique tracks, and over 1,000 street miles in every condition from sunshine to rain. The winner is determined by the best average ET across the entire week, making Jon’s second-place finish a testament to both performance and reliability.
