Will this plug directly into my ECU?

  • No.  You must use a wideband controller (LC-2) with the sensor.  This product is a replacement sensor in case you have damaged yours or want to carry a spare.

How can I check if my LC-2 is set up for this or an LSU4.9?

  • The sensor cable for an LSU 4.9 will have a “4.9” cast into it.  If you have a LSU 4.9 cable, you will want to use replacement sensor part number 3897.

These are an older sensor version, but the newer ones aren't any more robust. The main things that can kill these sensors are vibration, water in the exhaust, leaded fuel, excessively rich mixtures, or excess heat. Some general tips to ensure maximum sensor life:

    • Do not pre-heat the sensor before starting. It's best to tie the wideband power to the fuel pump relay so it is only powered when the engine is running.
    • Install the sensor in the upper half of the exhaust pipe.
    • Do not put the sensor upstream of a turbo. If using a turbo, it's best to put the sensor at least 18" downstream. You may benefit from using a heat shield on the sensor as well.
    • If you're running leaded race gas, accept that these are just going to wear out often.
