Is this all that I need to get started tuning my Mustang?

  • The only other potential must-have is that if your laptop doesn’t have a 9 pin serial port, you will need our USB to serial adapter to connect to this unit. However, there are several other things you may wish to add to use this unit to its full potential.

Does the MSPNP Gen 2 support sequential injection on ’94-’95 Mustangs?

  • The MSPNP Gen 2 has a maximum of four fuel channels, so it is configured for bank to bank fueling in this application.

What if I have an automatic transmission?

  • ’94-’95 Mustangs had transmission control built into the ECU. It would be possible to use a wire in transmission controller to run the transmission separately, but the transmission control would not be plug and play.
  • If you are using a non-stock transmission without computer control (such as a C4, C6, or Powerglide), you can use this ECU without any trouble.

Where’s the serial port on this one?

  • The 9 pin serial port on the other MSPNPs did not clear the stock mounting bracket on this car, so we have opted to use a 2.5 mm barrel connector for the serial cable for this model.

Questions & Answers

I have a 1995 Mustang GT with some mods but mostly stock, why would I want to install this and what will it do performance wise? I apologize, I'm not too experienced with them.

This is a tunable race ECU that replaces the factory controller. It is intended for competition vehicles that are not street legal. It may be overkill for a mostly stock car, but allows for tuning for a wider range of modifications than a stock ECU can readily accommodate. This unit also allows for some racing electronics features such as a launch rev limiter and boost control.

This device isn't intended to add power per se, as much as to allow you to get all the power you can get out of modifications you've added. The further the car is from stock, the more potential gains you have.

Yes, it works with Auto Meter widebands as well. You'll just need to enter the appropriate calibration data in TunerStudio.

  4. I bought a innovate lc-2 to use with the MegaSquirtPNP. What pin on the ECU connector do I hook it up the lc-2 to? Also what analog wire is best to use on the LC-2 should i use for the wide band signal?

The easiest way to wire this up is to connect the analog output to pin 21 of the 26 pin options port on the MSPNP, and disconnect the stock sensors.

If you are not using the LC-2 with a gauge, use the #1 (yellow) analog output wire. If you are using a gauge, you will need to use separate analog outputs for the gauge and the ECU, and program both to use the same 0-5 volt output curve using the LM Programmer utility.

This unit plugs into the stock harness.

Q Does it matter if I have already bought my PROm massair to match my injectors?

You will need to adjust the tune for the larger injectors.

This ECU is normally set up for speed density, although it is possible to reconfigure it to support a MAF if you have a voltage vs flow curve for the one you are using.

Some of the injectors are connected to different pins on the SN95 Mustangs. We weren't able to build one plug and play that fit both at the same time.

Q Does this work with a MSD magnetic pickup distributor instead of the ford TFI?

The MSPNP is preconfigured specifically for stock Ford sensors and their aftermarket equivalents. It will not support the MSD two wire magnetic pickup, but it will work with MSD TFI type distributors.

  14. I have a stock 1995 Mustang GT and am planning several engine upgrades/modifications. I am new to the ECU tuning world but would like to go with the DIYAUTOTUNE Megasquirt device since I plan on using this manufacturer for other projects as well due to my perception that you are one of the industry standards. My question has to do with all current functions on the stock car such as cruise control. Will the Megasquirt PNP for this vehicle support the cruise control and all other devices the stock ECU controls? This will be my first time learning tuning. Thank you for your time.

Cruise control is not run through the ECU on these cars, so it will keep working as normal. The only thing the MSPNP won't control is some emissions functions.

Sorry, a 1996 model would have been an EEC-V and uses a different connector. The wiring harness would not even physically fit. The Mustang MSPNPs can work with many of the 1995 and earlier trucks; contact us with details of your truck and we can check fitment before you order.
