Description

Important Note:  Due to supply chain challenges and the lack of ability to have parts anodized at this time, we are transitioning the enclosure used with our MS2 ECUs.    Your MS2 will now be built using the MS3 enclosure, which will help facilitate potential future upgrades from MS2 to MS3 without extra cost.  The finish is brushed silver.  We appreciate your understanding.

  • Blended Alpha-N and speed density is an option
  • 2 spare I/O lines for custom controls. (This is in addition to 4 lines for Idle stepper control if you don’t need this, or the Fast idle solenoid then becomes a spare if you do use a stepper motor.)

Features specific to the latest PCB Version 3.57 Surface Mount PCB

  • 90% of components converted to surface mount. This standardizes the part numbers used, as well as the assembly process, resulting in consistently high quality. (I know you were already used to that from us here at DIYAutoTune 😉
  • All standard ignition input settings are now easily set by jumper shunts, no need to bust out your soldering iron to change your base hardware ignition configuration anymore!
  • Pulse-Width Modulated (PWM) Idle Valves are now natively supported by the PCBv3.57 hardware without the need for modification. This is one of the coolest features as this was a very common modification that will no longer be needed. The circuitry on the PCBv3.57 will control a standard on/off fast idle valve, or a 2/3 wire PWM Idle valve!
  • MS2 Extra code allows using the PWM idle valve output for open or closed loop boost control as well!
  • Enhanced I/O Capabilities
    • DB15 Added for bringing signals into/out of the ECU
    • Common signal pickup points (IE ‘top of the LEDs, etc’) are brought out to easily accessible solder pads
  • LEDs are surface mounted

What inputs and outputs is the MS2 V3.57 set up for?

  • It is set up for basic fuel control and single channel logic level spark output, with the following inputs and outputs:
    • Coolant temperature
    • Air temperature
    • MAP sensor (built in)
    • Throttle position sensor
    • O2 sensor – narrow band or external wideband controller
    • Single RPM input – Hall, optical, or VR
    • On/off, stepper, or PWM idle control – unused idle control outputs can be repurposed as general purpose relay control outputs
    • Fuel pump relay
    • Two fuel injector banks
    • One 5 volt logic level spark output
    • CANbus

What firmware does it have?

  • The MS2 V3.57 ships with the latest MS2/Extra code. The code it initially shipped with will be indicated on a sticker on the underside of the unit.

Is the V3.57 board available in kit form?

  • The V3.57 is essentially a V3.0 that has been changed for machine assembly with very few differences. Consequently, it is not offered in kit form.

What connections are on the DB15?

  • By default, it only has a couple extra reference voltage and ground pins for sensors. The DB15 can be used for adding optional I/O if you run out of pins on the main connector.

Where is it built?

  • The components are assembled at various locations in the US, with final assembly completed in Gainesville, Georgia.

What is the warranty?

  • We provide a one year limited warranty against manufacturing defects.

The MS2 can definitely run this engine but may require a few add on mods depending on what inputs and outputs you need beyond fuel and spark control. It is also possible to upgrade a V2.2 board with an MS2 daughter card, although there's less documentation on this combo than for the V3.0 and V3.57 boards. Please contact our technical support department for more information.

As long as the car has a manual transmission, the MS2 would be able to completely replace all stock ECU functions if you have put the appropriate mods in the MS2. Installation on a distributor based SR20DE will be the same as our MegaSquirt 240SX installation guide.

We also offer complete, turn key plug and play packages for these cars. Which one depends on what year Sentra.

We offer a dedicated plug and play ECU package for the M50, based on the MS3Pro that's ready for this engine out of the box. The MS2 V3.57, on the other hand, would need special order mods. If you are looking for an MS2 based option, we would need to add several custom mods - please contact our tech team directly to price out a custom built MS2.

  26. I saw many car documentations saying that the used ECU is a Megasquirt 2 PNP. Well is this one "PNP" version or does it differenciate? Also would the shipping to Germany work out? The MSPNP Gen 2 uses MS2 code, but is based around the MicroSquirt Module as the module lends itself better to specialized circuit boards. You can view the MSPNP2 lineup here:

    MegaSquirt PNP, Gen 2

So the MS2 V3.57 and the MSPNP2 do not have very many parts in common. If you need assistance with wiring up the MS2 V3.57, please contact our technical support department with what year, make, model, and engine you have, and we will be glad to assist you.

The website will calculate shipping before you check out.

Q Can I use this without an mad box?
    Asked by Jim Halasinski

This particular one is set up for a 5 volt logic level spark output for an external ignition module like a Ford EDIS or Bosch 124 module. Other ignition outputs are available by special order. If you are trying to run a V8 at especially high RPM and / or high cylinder pressures (boost, nitrous, etc), you may need to run a distributorless ignition or CDI box to prevent spark energy from falling off at high RPM.
