Important Compatibility Notes:

  • JDM 3rd generation 3S-GTE: Compatible
  • 1996-2000 Toyota 4A-GE 20v blacktop: Undocumented

The MegaSquirtPNP Gen 2 is pin-compatible with the 1996-2000 Toyota 4A-GE 20V Blacktop. Some users have successfully installed it using the stock 20v harness, but we do not offer documentation or a base map for these engines. Support for non-standard applications is limited compared to a fully plug-and-play install. Verify compatibility with non-U.S. or non-Canadian Toyota ECUs by checking the part numbers below.

Is this all I need to run the car?

  • It’s a complete package, but there are a few accessories you may want.
    • If your laptop does not have a 9 pin serial port, you will need our USB adapter.
    • The factory boost control solenoid does not allow easily changing boost levels. We recommend upgrading to our solenoid kit for improved control.
    • We recommend a wideband oxygen sensor system if you are tuning it yourself.

    While the engines had similar electronics, the pinout is significantly different. You would need significant changes to the wiring to run this ECU with a 1991 wiring harness.

    No harness repinning is needed - just adjust the tune for your injector size. Most of the differences in pinout are smog related functions that the MSPNP does not need for operation.
