Description

4L60E Plug and Play Transmission Control via MicroSquirt

Seamlessly control your 4L60E transmission with MicroSquirt Transmission Control! The supplied 4L60E subharness provides a simple, plug and play integration with MS3-Pro and directly mates with our LSx drop on harnesses.  This harness fits GM 4L60E transmissions with and without the LUF (lock up feel) control solenoid. It does not include the input shaft speed sensor found on later 4L65E and 4L70E variants. You can also wire the harness to communicate with an MS2, another MicroSquirt EMS, MS3-Pro, or MS3 over the CAN bus.

Important Note:

NOT Compatible with the 2009+ 4L60E

Parts included

  • MicroSquirt Transmission Controller
  • Complete 4L60E plug & play wiring harness
  • 6 pin black connector for power, ground, and CAN bus
  • 8 pin gray connector for additional inputs
  • 18 crimp pins for the above connector

See our MicroSquirt TCU quick start guide for more details on setting this up.

I’ve heard of a device called the MicroTCU. Is this a MicroTCU?

  • The MicroTCU is a different unit that has similar specifications, but it has not been put into production.

Is it waterproof?

  • No, but you can make it waterproof with a bit of RTV silicone around the edge of the case.

Are there other versions of the MicroSquirt for other functions? Transmission control or the “IO Box”, for example?

  • These all use the same ECU, just running different code to change its function and use it as a transmission control unit or I/O expansion device. See MSExtra.com for details.

Could I use two MicroSquirts, one running the engine and one running the transmission?

  • Yes. They would link up over their CAN networks to look like a single unit to the tuning software.

Where is this unit made?

  • They are built in the USA.

What do I need to tune this unit over USB?

Yes, it will communicate with the MS2 over CAN bus so it can share info with the ECU and so you can tune both with a laptop.

  2. So my Ecu my motor uses puts out Gmlan. Would I be able to hook this to the can bus and have them work properly?

Currently this unit only supports the MegaSquirt CAN protocol. However, you can supply it with analog voltage signals for engine RPM and load - just tee off the TPS wire for load and use the ECU tach output for RPM.

  4. Your documentation states "It does not include the input shaft speed sensor found on later 4L65E and 4L70E variants." I'm new and still learning. Does this mean it cannot be used to control a 4L65E transmission? Will it work with reduced capability? Can the harness be modified to include the input speed sensor?

It can run the 4L65E no problem - it'll work just like a 4L60E in this case. You can add an input speed sensor if you want - currently it's just used for data logging, including calculating converter slip.

Sure, it will work great here. You just need to give it an RPM and throttle position signal (or use a MAP sensor).
